Osman Barry who is popularly called Sali, 32, a Burkinabe and a resident of Anyimana a suburb of Techiman has been arrested by Techiman Police for killing a policeman on duty at Kalba on March 25, 2016.
Barri was arrested at about 8:00am Sunday at his hideout Anyimana after admitted committing the crime.
Osman Barry claimed to be a dealer in livestock at the Techiman market and gold.
Briefing the media, DSP Mahmud Yussif, the District Police Commander for Techiman said on March, 25, Detective Corporal Lopaw Yaw, 34 was killed by Barry and his accomplice Mohammed Musah, 32, during a hot chase after an armed robbery.
When they met Detective Lopaw, they thought he was going to give information about them so they asked him to surrender which he did by raising his hands.
Osman Barry and his accomplice shot him through his ribs and he died instantly.
According to DSP Mahmud Yussif, Musah was arrested by the Sawla-Kalba District Police Command on March 26 who mentioned Barry as the perpetrator of the heinous incident.
He added that Musah is currently in Tamale Central Prison on remand.
DSP Mahmud Yussif added that Osman Barry would be sent to Tamale Regional Police Command for further investigation.
He appealed to the general public to assistant the police and provide them with information about criminals to enable them arrest and prosecute them.
