The four-year marriage of Cheryl and Ashley Cole has ended in divorce at the High Court in London.
Their "quickie divorce" - titled by their initials CAC vs AC - was granted by District Judge Christopher Simmonds "under the special procedure rule".
The pair separated in February after the 27-year-old X Factor judge reportedly confronted Cole and he admitted a string of infidelities.
Pop singer Cheryl later filed for divorce on grounds of unreasonable behaviour by the 29-year-old Chelsea defender.
At the High Court's Family Division in Holborn, the couple were granted a decree nisi - a preliminary divorce order that can be finalised within weeks if neither side objects.
Both Cheryl and Cole did not attend the central London hearing, which lasted only one minute and 20 seconds.
Their troubled marriage was the subject of much media attention and Cheryl was pictured on a number of occasions without her wedding ring.
She took the ring off again in February when she appeared at the Brit Awards performing her chart-topping solo single Fight For This Love.
This time it was due to tabloid reports that said pictures of an undressed Cole had been sent via mobile phone to a glamour model.
He claimed the images were sent after he passed the phone to a friend, having forgotten to delete them.
Cheryl has since been linked to 25-year-old dancer Derek Hough.
A spokesman for the singer declined to comment on the divorce news.
