A man bitten by a snake before runs away at the sight of worms.
That may well be the classic representation of what happened to residents around Odawna who feared the worst when rain water turned dark as oil from a mechanical shop floated across flood waters.
The same residents saw tens of their relatives, friends die just a year ago when fuel from a filling station leaked into a flood waters and it sparked fire which burnt more than 100 people.
A year later Myjoyonline.com's Andoh explained that there was a strong smell of oil spill around the East Cantoment Pharmacy close to the disaster zone at Circle where the fuel spill into flood waters caused a tragic explosion last year, June 3.
The residents were anxious when floods returned Thursday after torrential rains left large parts of Accra submerged. They were even more alarmed when they saw the black oil they suspect came from a fitting shop.
Security forces coordinated rescue efforts as torrential floods in Accra caused extensive damage to properties.
Scores of residents and headpotters were displaced by flood waters.
