The Ashanti Region has recorded yet another robbery incident as police pursue 19 suspected notorious robbers who have been declared wanted.
It comes in the wake of a warning by regional command officials to the suspects to turn themselves in to the police or face their wrath.
The warning appears to have done little to scare the robbers as a group of robbers struck Wednesday evening at Kenyase-Gyebi in the Kwabre East District.
One of the wanted criminals, identified as Tanko, an ex-convict and others, armed with AK-47 assault rifles and Pump Action gun, shot a woman in the left arm.
They succeeded in robbing the defenseless woman and her family of Gh¢ 13,500.

Police say the victim who had been robbed in an earlier occasion identified Tanko as the one who shot her.
Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Godwin Ahianyoh who confirmed the incident to Nhyira FM says the victim who survived the attack has been responding to treatment in a nearby health facility.
“According to the victims, they broke into their home, that is the bakery; robbed them of GH¢13,500 and bolted. Tanko who was mentioned during the press briefing as an ex-convict we suspected to be perpetuating this crime has been identified as the one who actually shot the victim. We are still on the heels of these suspected criminals out there who are terrorizing innocent residents,” he said.
Until Wednesday’s attack, police had arrested 10 suspected robbers and declared 19 more wanted, including a dismissed police officer Mutala Musah .
Among those arrested were Ama Serwaa, described as a financier and Azana Kassim, also known as 50 Cent at a hideout at Ahinsan.
Meanwhile, police authorities in the region say the spate of robbery has affected morale of personnel in the barracks.
“Everybody is sad including the Regional Commander, his deputy, the Crime Officer; everybody is down. Notwithstanding, we are really on the ground working.”
It comes at a time when personnel are being overstretched to work harder in the command’s quest to arrest armed robbers said to be operating in syndicated groups within the region.
Chief Inspector Ahianyo wants the public to volunteer information on suspected robbers to police whilst the command does everything to hunt down all the wanted criminals.
“It is only information that can help us get these armed robbers arrested to bring them to justice because we don’t want to be recording these unfortunate incidents within the region.”
