Five people including the National Democratic Congress’ Amenfi Central Deputy Youth Organizer have died in a fatal accident.
Michael Asiedu as well as the odikro of Nyame Bekyere, Nana Kofi and the others were confirmed dead after the taxi they were travelling in collided with a Yutong Bus.
The accident occurred between Manso Amenfi and Asankragua in the Western region.
In an interview, District Police Commander for the Amenfi West and Central districts, DSP Kingsley Owusu Bempah said the Yutong bus was heading to Accra from Asangragua while the taxi was from Bogoso to Asangragua.
He said the police is unable to tell what happened but the collision occurred in a community called K.Boateng in Amenfi Central.
According to him, all male passengers onboard the taxi died instantly.
Occupants of the bus are yet to be identified and the level of their injuries determined.
Bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to a private morgue in the district.
He said investigations have begun into the incident.
The NDC’s Western region secretary Joseph Nelson who confirmed the incident to Joy News said the party is devastated following the loss of their youth activist.
“We are shocked by the news, judging from how it happened, it couldn’t have been worse than that…a head on collision between a taxi and a Yutong bus in which all the five people in the taxi lost their lives…we cannot imagine anything more gruesome than that.”
He said the party will do everything possible to reach out to the family and speak to them about the incident.
