The Church of Christ, University of Ghana branch, has donated food and non-food items valued at GH¢2,100 to the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital in Accra.
The Church members also weeded, removed cobwebs and de-silted gutters in and around the VIP Female Ward and Ward 11 of the Hospital.
The items included six maxi bags of rice, three super-maxi bags of maize, 90 loaves of bread, 100 rubber mats, 35 pieces of blankets, 60 packets of toilet rolls, 13 bed sheets and a box of key soap.
Presenting the items, the Minister-In-Charge of the Legon Branch of Church of Christ, Mr George Kingsley Abugah, said the donation formed part of the Church's 10th anniversary celebration.
He mentioned some of the activities lined-up for the celebration as prayer, open lecture on the History of the Church, night of praises and a ten year strategic planning of the Church.
On behalf of Pantang Psychiatric Hospital, a Senior Nursing Officer Mr Rudolph Amertier, who received the items, thanked the Church saying it had fulfilled a biblical promise by attending to the needy.
Mr. Rudolph Amertier asked for Gods guidance and protection for the Church and its members to grow from strength to strength and continue to help them.
He also appealed to other corporate bodies to come to the aid of the Hospital.
After the clean-up exercise, Church members sang songs of praises and prayed for the inmates. The inmates who were so happy joined and sang along amidst dancing.
Dr. Kwadwo Appiagyei Atua, a senior lecturer at University of Ghana, who is a patron to the Church, said members begun their worship in the Department of Sociology in the 1980s before moving in 2000 to its present permanent location at the Legon Staff Village Primary School.
