Muslims at Old Tafo in Kumasi have received assorted food items from Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank to support community members for the Ramadan month.
The corporate social responsibility gesture is also meant to strengthen the relationship between the bank and its partners.
The items worth thousands of cedis include rice, sugar and confectionery.
Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Sarfo Kantanka says the donation is to offer support to the Muslim community that has offered to pray for the nation.
According to him, though the bank has provided support to some Islamic education institutions, it was the first time the bank was offering support during the one-month-long fasting period.
“This is a period of fasting and they’ve doing it annually. And we believe that since we have a good working relationship with them and most of the members in that community bank with us, we thought it wise that if they are fasting; we should go to their aid.”
Sarikin Zongo of Old Tafo, Alhaji Saeed Chibsah, said the bank’s gesture will enhance the well-being of Muslims during the Ramadan fasting period.
