Thirteen more lives have been lost at the same spot where an accident claimed five lives Thursday on the Accra-Kumasi road, when two cars collided into the accident cars, Friday.

Scores of other injured passengers are reported to have been sent to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) with seven of the victims are in critical conditions, Joy News' Erastus Asare Donkor reported.

Others have been transported to the Konongo Government Hospital.

Narrating what happened, Superintendent Boadi Bossman of the Konongo Divisional Police told Joy News that a speeding 207 splinter commercial bus crashed into a broken down stationary tipper truck in the middle of the road at around 4.30 a.m. Friday.

He said on Thursday evening at about 8 - 9 p.m., a Toyota bus carrying passengers from Accra- Kumasi bumped into the same tipper truck at New Koforidua, Nobewam, which caused the death of five passengers with many others injured.

"Because we did not have a heavy duty towing machine for some time now, we placed six reflective cones and triangles about 150 meters from the scene of the accident. The driver of the 207 splinter bus must have been driving careless and speeding to have missed all the warning signals," Supt. Bossman said.

According to him, there were some which were operated by Zoomlion, they have mysteriously disappeared making it difficult to move accident cars from the road fast after accidents or breaking down on the road.

He appealed that the authorities should put the machines back to save lives.
