The National Health Insurance Workers Union is asking government to adequately resource and address challenges of district schemes or the system will collapse.
Members say for the past two years government has starved the districts of administrative funds and other logistics for smooth running of the scheme.
General Secretary, Kingsley Bobbie, says the situation has plunged many schemes nationwide into serious resource constraints.
He believes there is too much political interference in the work of the scheme, citing persistent attack on officials by ruling party activists and supporters.
Mr. Bobbie was speaking at the inauguration and official admission of the union into the Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers (UNICOF).
He called on authorities of the scheme to address the wide salary disparity among workers at the district and regional levels.
Mr. Bobbie says such issues will determine the success of government’s determination to introduce the one-time premium agenda to bring relief to Ghanaians.
