Former Nigerian Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Monday said he was ready to be investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Abubakar, in a statement by his campaign organisation in Abuja, said he was not moved by allegations of corruption against him.
The Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant spoke against insinuations that he was under watch by the United States.
A national newspaper had also reported that the US; the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom’s intelligence service were working on certain information relating to Atiku.
The former vice-president said he was ready for the EFCC, adding that past efforts to bring him down failed.
He said if he could survive the ‘most intensive and ferocious allegations’ in the past, he could not be intimidated.
“The timing of the current smear campaign suggests that his opponents are scared of his competence and the quality of his programmes,” the statement added.
He said he was making preparations for the presidential primaries of the party and would not be distracted by the smear campaign.
