Mr. Malik Ibrahim, the Wa Depot Manager of Metro Mass Transit (MMT), said all loading boys who are known to have exhibited misconduct would be dismissed at the end of this year.
He said the names of the affected workers were being compiled for action to be taken against them.
"The MMT services have come far in the region and the country in general, and we must put in stringent measures to maintain our integrity and public trust", he said.
Mr. Ibrahim made this known at the weekend in an interview with the GNA in Wa.
He said the loading boys who were being paid by MMT to help the drivers and the conductors to load buses were reported to be cheating the passengers by collecting money from them before conveying their luggage into the buses.
Mr. Ibrahim said the practice was criminal because passengers after paying luggage charges were not supposed to pay money again for the loading boys to convey them into the bus.
"MMT is paying these loading boys to do their job but some of them are taking undue advantage of innocent passengers to extort monies from them," he said.
"We cannot allow such unscrupulous individuals to obstruct our vision of making MMT the leading and most reliable transport system in the country."
Mr Ibrahim said they would strengthen their public education system at the various terminals to sensitize passengers on the issue for them to report such loading boys for action to be taken against them.
He appealed to the public to give them their maximum cooperation and support to enable them offer very efficient and effective services expected by passengers.
