The Health Insurance Authority is on the move to plug what it says are serious loopholes in its claims management system. The decision has become necessary because those previously managing the claims were not professionals and could not detect anomalies.NHIA Chief Executive Sylvester Mensah told Joy News a new directorate known as the Clinical Audit Unit has been set up to determine whether payments made in the past were valid. He said between January and September, the NHIA recovered GH¢16 million from service providers.Mr Mensah said the authority was organizing training for some of its staff whom he described as incompetent. He denied the widespread speculation that the scheme is facing imminent collapse but conceded however that there are challenges that are being addressed.Source: Joy News/Ghana
