Black Stars coach Avram Grant has bemoaned the poor state of Tamale sports stadium pitch, barely 24 hours to Ghana’s opening 2018 World Cup qualifier clash against Uganda at the venue.
The team held its first training after arriving in the Northern regional capital on Wednesday with Grant displeased with what he witnessed.
The Israeli trainer slammed the disgruntled state, suggesting it’s not even at the level of ‘youth team’ pitch in Europe.
And this comes after Grant labelled the Accra sports stadium pitch as the ‘worst ever’ he has seen after the Black Stars were held to a disappointing draw by Rwanda.
‘’They need to improve the pitches, this pitch is not at the level of even youth team in Europe”, Grant said after Ghana’s first training at the venue on Wednesday.
“It is not a matter of money, it is a matter of priorities so I think they need to put a priority on the pitches and then we will see also fewer injuries and the quality will be higher,” he added.
“Because there is talent in Ghana they just need a good education and also pitches, this is not a good pitch,” Grant said.
Black Stars will hold their final training session at the same venue later today, before facing off with Cranes a day after.
