There is a growing interest among corporate institutions in Kumasi to engage in social activities that promote healthy lifestyles among staff.
Employees in the financial services sector, most especially, do not often get the opportunity to take time out to join in group aerobics and other wellness programmes due to tight work schedules.
Now, the institutions are increasingly encouraging and supporting their workers to be involved in health-related events.
According to Jacob Wilberforce, the Branch Manager of the Amakom Business Office of AMAL Bank, helping staff to exercise and de-stress can impact positively on productivity at the workplace.
“A host of us don’t join any social club; we don’t go to any gym because of our schedule, very busy every time, so once a while we need to come out of our shell, walk, have the health that we need to continue delighting our customers. No matter the stress, once a while you need to stretch for the stress to go”, noted Mr. Wilberforce.
He revealed this to Luv FM when staff of AMAL Bank in the Garden City joined the Chiropractic and Wellness Centre to embark on the health walk, as part of events to commemorate the maiden edition of the bank’s Health Month.
Mr. Wilberforce emphasized the need for management of institutions to support staff in subscribing to regular health schemes to promote a healthy workforce.
He hopes the health programme would be expanded to include activities such as families and stakeholders’ day out.
