Two students of the Shama Senior High School (names withheld) have been suspended indefinitely for watching pornography on campus.
The headmistress of the school, Mrs Regina Obiri who made the disclosure at a Parent/Teacher Association meeting in Shama on Saturday said the students had downloaded the pornographic materials onto their mobile phones.
She said the two students had been given "internal suspension with hard labour" whiles the mobile phones had been seized.
The headmistress noted that the school authorities had taken stringent measures in ensuring discipline among students and any student caught misbehaving would be sternly dealt with.
Mrs Obiri stressed that, the school authorities had instituted "Quality Passes Agenda" and that it had decided to repeat or withdrew non-performing students at the end of this academic year which is aimed at ensuring success at the West Africa Certificate Examination.
She said the final year students reported to campus one week earlier before the re-opening of school this year as part of measures to enable them prepare adequately for their final examination in March this year.
She added that major maintenance work was ongoing at the boys and girls dormitories at the cost of GHc6,000 in ensuring favourable learning environment. The school has purchased a 1,000 litre polytank at a cost of GHc1,600 for the boys' dormitory.
"Plans are far advanced to equip the Science laboratory, library, construction of school field and toilet facilities for the school", she said.
Mrs. Obiri expressed appreciation to Bobson College in USA, for donating 10 computers and accessories to the school to enhance the study of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
She said the school has a student population 1,600 with 850 boys and 750 girls and urged corporate organizations in the district to come to their aid.
