The Ghana Police Service has given assurance it will provide extra security in the 94 constituencies identified as flashpoints on Election Day.
The Service says there would be a patrol system within the areas to complement security.
Head of the Police Election Taskforce Chief Supt. Benjamin Agordzor tells Joy News adequate measures have been put in place to ensure no violence occurs in the identified areas.
He says they have Rapid Response Unit and reserve unit which will include the military in some constituencies who will be called upon when situation gets out of control.
Over 5,000 flashpoints have been identified by the 2016 National Elections and Security Task-force.
According to the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, they are putting measures in place to ensure that the flashpoints do not pose any risk going into election 2016.
Superintendent Cephas Arthur who made the revelation after a simulation exercise on how to fight crime during the 2016 elections added that they are aware of heightened tension before, during and after the polls but they are hopeful that people will comport themselves.
He said flashpoints are areas notorious for acts of violence.
"Usually such places record violence, acts of vandalism, disturbances of public peace as a result of elections and other social activities. These are the places we have tagged as flashpoints.
Meanwhile, the Service has started distributing an aid memoir which is a booklet containing information for all officers who will be on duty on Election Day to its officers as well as the citizenry ahead of the December polls.
The aid memoir also seeks to educate the public on do's and don’t's before, during and after the elections.
All officers posted to the polling stations are to be identified with duty armlet, the Service has said.
