A youth activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Benjamin Akyena Brentuo has launched a scathing attack on members of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) for their ‘choleric’ attacks on President Mills.According to him, such comments are reckless, irresponsible, very reprehensible and unbecoming of FONKAR members who must be called to order.FONKAR, a voluntary group that has been calling on Nana Konadu to contest for the presidential slot because they believe she would be a good leader to uphold the principles of the NDC which is “probity and accountability”.They also accused President Mills of incompetence who if voted for would lead the party into opposition come 2012.Also, a speaker at the campaign launch of Mrs. Rawlings on May 4 at the Accra International Conference Centre described President Mills as an ‘impotent’ president who lacks the ability to govern the nation.Akyena Brentuo on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, observed with dismay that, such comments from FONKAR and some members of Mrs. Rawlings’ campaign team has the tendency to divide the party and must be condemned. He expressed disappointment in Mrs. Rawlings - who wants to lead the party and yet cannot control her supporters to do a clean campaign.“You cannot just image why on one hand people will say that let's engage in clean politics and they allow their members to do the opposite” he lamented.Akyena Brentuo advised FONKAR to focus their campaign on competence, policies and principles of Mrs. Rawlings rather than spewing insults at their opponents. He commended the Mills campaign team in engaging in a clean campaign and staying focused in achieving the Better Ghana Agenda. The NDC youth activists stressed that "people like myself want President Mills to stand again because in the middle of playing a football match, you don't change your coach".Story by: Adwoa Gyasiwaa/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
