Two traders angry with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for razing their shops have been arrested for allegedly threatening retaliation. The two were said to have made wild threats on Kapital FM- a Kumasi based radio station on Thursday. Editor of the Station, Erastus Asare Donkor confirmed the arrest to Joy News’ Israel Laryea. According to him, one of the traders had said on live radio that "if he had a bomb he would have blasted the KMA." Erastus said the host of the show - Kwadwo Akoto Boateng- who thought the comments were not “radio friendly” insisted that the trader retract and apologise. According to him, the trader obliged and apologized but that appeared not satisfactory enough for the KMA boss. No sooner had he apologised than the KMA boss and eight city guards besieged the premises of Kapital FM with an arrest warrant to effect the arrest of the traders, according to Erastus Donkor. The two were taken to the Kumasi Central Police Station, to be arraigned before court for prosecution. Meanwhile, shop owners and other businesses whose structures were destroyed by the KMA have sent a petition to the regional minister. The Strong Faith Traders Association is threatening a massive demonstration against the KMA next week Thursday.
