Students and authorities of the University of Ghana woke up to the horrific scene of a final year female student lying in a pool of blood after allegedly jumping to her death. 

Jennifer Nyarko, a Consumer Science student, allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of her Akuafo Hall Annex A room 407 and was found by porters Wednesday dawn with severe head injuries.  

It is unclear what may have caused her to jump or fall from that height but some students say she has been moody and kept a lot to herself lately. 

According to reports, she was with her roommates last night but at dawn Wednesday, they were alerted to check to see if every member of the room was there. 

That was when they realised that she was nowhere to be found although they said they slept together with her in the room. 

A sister of the deceased who was at the morgue to identify her told Joy News' Matilda Wemegah that Jennifer was not feeling well the whole of last week.

School authorities say the police have taken over the matter and are investigating into what really happened. 

They say they do not know if the late Ms Nyarko was suffering from any illness or disorder. 

Public Relations Officer of the university, Stella Amoah said they spoke to Akuafo Hall authorities who said they heard a loud noise at dawn at about 4:30 am. 

"A student on the first floor saw the lifeless body on the ground and so the porters went and found that it was a female resident of the Hall. They called campus security, other authorities as well as mobilise the Legon police and doctors at the hospital who came with an ambulance to pick the body," she said.  

She added that doctors said Jennifer had died before being conveyed to the Legon Hospital so they started the process to deposit the body at the morgue.   

Mrs Amoah said they are waiting for the reports from the doctors and police. 

Describing the kind of person the late Ms Nyarko was, her floor mates said she was a very nice and open person but she has been moody this semester.
