Perhaps we should rethink viral videos as educational material. These wondrous clips are constantly exposing us to new possibilities. For example, I had no idea it was possible to make yourself sneeze.
And I definitely had no idea that forcing yourself to do it repeatedly was a thing people do on the internet.
This Japanese dude, known only as Tan, has gone viral for making himself sneeze more than 300 times in a video. (Here are the seven things that are making you sneeze, if you're doing it too much, too.)
The price of virality was his health, though, as Tan says he made himself sick from the little stunt. For two days after filming, he had a sore throat and fever. “There is no next time,” Tan told BuzzFeed News. “I don’t want to do it anymore.
The video is actually from 2016, so Tan must still be scarred from his illness. The original clip still only has 60,000 views, but it took off elsewhere on Twitter, YouTube, and 9Gag. In it, Tan rolls up a kleenex into a cone while repeatedly forcing it up his nose. Meanwhile, he’s singing the Dragon Ball theme song, forcing a sneeze before each and every word.
Watch what was clearly a terrible time below.
