Mr Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Information, on Monday appealed to the media to provide the right linkage between the government and the people.
Speaking at the media launch of the Volta Regional Policy Fair in Ho, he said the Fair sought to “give an opportunity to the people of the Volta Region to make direct assessment of our government’s delivery through regional institutions”.
The Four-Day Fair that would be launched by the President on August 17 would give the opportunity to the citizens of the region to make inputs or critique some of the policy initiatives of government.
Decentralized Departments and Agencies as well as Municipal and District Assemblies in the region would use the fair to showcase their policies, projects and activities and feedback gathered for government.
He explained that the Fair should help forge “an effective partnership between the public and the private sector to harness the potentials of the Volta Region for the benefit of our people”.
He said the Fair would feature “Dialogue Sessions” on critical developmental issues in agriculture, oil exploration, tourism and women and the youth as they relate to the region.
Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, said the Fair was an opportunity for the people of the region to see a graphic picture of the level of development in the region under President John Evans Atta Mills’ “Better Ghana Agenda”.
Mr Kwesi Mintah-Benyin, Coordinator of the Fair said besides projecting the government’s achievements, the Fair would also feature future development initiatives.
