The late playwright and director of the National Theatre, Efo Kodjo Mawugbe who passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra last month, will be buried on Friday, October 28 at the Osu Cemetery in Accra after a funeral ceremony at the forecourt of the State House.
A meeting last Monday of the Efo Mawugbe Funeral Committee, headed by Ms Korkor Amarteifio, a member of the National Theatre Board revealed that there will be a wake-keeping from 7:00.p.m to midnight for the late playwright at the National Theatre on Thursday, October 27.
The committee further indicated that a non denominational church service will be held for him at 9:00.a.m at the National Theatre on Sunday, October 30.
A member of the committee, renowned choreographer and dramatist, Prof Nii Yartey said Efo Mawugbe was a very creative man and a staunch believer in the power of the arts. The committee’s idea is therefore to see him off in a way that effectively embodies drama, music, dance and poetry.
Members of the public can still sign in the book of condolence opened for the late Efo Mawugbe in the foyer of the National Theatre.
