Thousands of music enthusiasts who trooped to the Accra International Conference Center on Saturday for the maiden edition of the Legends and Legacy Ball which was to honour one of Ghana’s highlife greats, Daddy Lumba (DL) were given more than their money’s worth as they were treated to a show of a lifetime.With performances from artistes like Rana, Mzbel, Kofi B, Kofi Nti, Philipa Baafi, No Tribe, Castro, Kwaw Kese, Praye, K. K. Fosu, Felix Owusu and Daddy Lumba himself, it was one huge party and patrons boogied the night away amid loud cheers and applause.A collaboration between Imajin Advertising and Adom 106.3 FM, the Legends and Legacy Ball is an event aimed at honouring Ghanaian living legends and promoting excellence in the entertainment industry.In what was a departure from the norm, the supporting artistes did not sing their own songs but performed their own renditions of songs from the honoree of the night, Daddy Lumba.Felix Owusu performed songs like Mme fame Nkogyae Me, Kumepreko and Woho Kyere; Kofi Nti did Gyae Su, Odo Nkoaa, Obi Ato Me So Buo, Mzbel was on point with Akoma and Asie Ho while K.K Fosu sang Odo Mmra Fie, Dangerous.For the first time, Kwaw Kese was a singer and his delivery of Theresa was quite interesting. Praye did Sika Asem and Sese Wose with Castro doing Adepa Hye Adepa Mu. Nacy, leader of gospel group No Tribe did Bohye and Mesom Jesus from Daddy Lumba’s gospel albums.The stage had been well primed for Daddy Lumba’s performance which was much anticipated and when he mounted the stage in his all white attire, the cheers were deafening.For well over an hour, he delighted the audience with some of his hit tracks like Aben Wo Ha, Auntie Ataa, Biribi Gyegye Wo; 111,666; Wose Kete A; Ohiasem Ye Ya; Me Nsei Da; Dr Panie; Woda Ento Wo Pono Mu, Sika, and many others.Contrary to widely held opinions that Daddy Lumba cannot perform for longer periods, he surprised the audience with his energetic performances while interacting with them.
