One of Ghana’s wheelchair tennis players McLean Dzidzienyo says he is looking forward to making an impression at this year’s International Tennis Federation (ITF) Wheelchair Futures Tournament which is scheduled to come off from October 20 to 22 in Manchester, England.
Dzidzienyo, who left Accra for Manchester Wednesday at 10 pm told tennisgh.com ahead of his departure that he did not only desire to finish top in the Men’s event but to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
“I have the mindset to win a medal at this tournament and make it to Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. I guess it’s the same with other players but I will triumph at the end of the tournament.”
He continued: “So many things have changed about me since the last time I participated in that tourney. My game has improved a lot and I am getting a lot of experience each day.”
“I can win the men’s event because everything is possible. I am saying this with a lot of confidence because I have put in a lot of hard work. I have participated in several other Futures Tournament so I have the experience,” he added.
Co-ordinator of the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Association, Henry Larbi, who spoke to tennisgh.com express optimism about the player's chances at the games.
