Over thirty individuals and organizations were rewarded for their achievements within various stages of Ghana’s oil and gas industry.
The 4th edition of GOGA recognized achievements from local and international companies. The event also acknowledged participants who played a significant role in sustaining the industry.
Among highlights of the awards was the recognition of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), the downstream petroleum regulator for introducing and implementing clean fuel policy for the downstream sector of Ghana’s petroleum industry.
CEO of the NPA Hassan Tampuli underscored the resolve of the regulator to perform effectively to streamline activities of the sector.
“Whatever we do, there is the tendency that we will step on a lot of toes in the industry because the worst thing that can happen to the industry is to have a weak regulator, we have refused to be a weak regulator” Hassan Tampuli stated.
He praised staff of the authority and expressed their commitment, to running an efficient and results-oriented downstream industry for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Coordinator of the Association of Oil marketing companies Kwaku Agyemang Duah praised the government for handling illegal fuel sales and said the situation is now impacting positively on their activities.
Deputy Minister for energy Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, said the government has begun the implementation of some far-reaching policies for the petroleum industry including the National LPG promotion policy.
He appealed to LPG marketers in the country to use the opportunity provided by the government to air out their grievances so they do not inconvenience the public.
“While I appreciate their concerns, I wish to appeal to them to use the opportunity provided them by the government to ensure that their concerns are addressed,” the Deputy Energy Minister assured.

Frimps Oil Company Ltd won the Indigenous Oil Company of the year while Petrosol won the Marketing Campaign of the Year Award.
LPG Marketing Company of the Year went to Hills Oil Marketing Company while Blue Ocean Investment Company was adjudged the BDC company of the year.
Goil Ghana Limited emerged the winner in the Oil Marketing Company of the Year category, Other awards for the downstream also went to Eagles Petroleum for being the Promising Oil and Gas Company of the Year, Vivo Energy Ghana for excellence in CSR (downstream) and Total Petroleum Brand of the year.
Some distinguished personalities were also acknowledged. Baluri Kassim Bukari won the Oil and Gas Personality of the year (Upstream), with CEO of Rigworld International Services Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, being awarded the CEO of the Year.
In the upstream sector, Tullow Oil took away Excellence in CSR Award while GNPC TECHNIP won Excellence in HSEQ award.
The Project of the Year (FPSO) went to ENI Ghana. The 2017 Oil and Gas Awards was under the theme ‘10 years of oil discovery, 4 years of celebrating excellence’.
