XpressGas Limited, suppliers and marketers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LP Gas), has launched a gas safety campaign dubbed “Gas SafetyFest” which aims at sensitizing consumers and the general public on how to use gas safely during the festive period in order to avoid gas-related accidents and ensure an enjoyable cooking time with family and friends.
Speaking about the campaign, the Ag. Head, Business Development of XpressGas Limited, Ms. Jessica Foli, said the “Gas SafetyFest” campaign is intended to create awareness and educate consumers on precautionary measures against gas-related accidents.
“There is a lot of cooking during this festive season by both households and commercial food vendors, restaurants and hotels. However, the sporadic gas accidents witnessed during the Christmas celebrations like burns, gas inhalation and sometimes death, is a big concern to us. This is why XpressGas Limited is embarking on this campaign to raise awareness among retailers and users on safe dispensing and use of gas,” she said.
According to Ms. Foli, the “Gas SafetyFest” campaign also aims to encourage patronage and ensure consumers have enough gas LP Gas supply during the festive season through an XpressGas initiative called Swap ‘N’ Go.
“The Swap ‘N’ Go operates on a pre-order-delivery system. A customer can call to order gas, and the Swap ‘N’ Go team will deliver the gas to his or her doorstep. On delivery, we provide a temporary refilled cylinder for your immediate use, take away your empty gas cylinder, fill and deliver to you promptly. It’s convenient and simple!” she added.
Notwithstanding the compliance policies that the regulator, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), requires of players in the oil and gas sector, Ms. Foli said XpressGas Limited has a strong commitment to the safety of its stakeholders and consumers.
“Besides our portfolio of innovative, cost effective and environmentally-friendly gas solutions we have in place robust maintenance and safety procedures at all our refilling stations nationwide to mitigate any incidents. For us safety is not an option, but rather a necessity”
The ‘Gas SafetyFest’ campaign, which is set to run throughout the month of December, 2017, is duo-pronged; it involves a community activation exercise and a social media campaign.
For the community activation, ‘Gas SafetyFest’ ambassadors, will move out to selected localities around the XpressGas head office including West Legon, Haatso, Madina, Adenta and Legon as well as to churches and commercial entities in these communities to educate them on gas safety during this festive season.
The social media campaign, which will run concurrently, will also promote safety in gas use during the festive season on Facebook and Twitter and followers to share the tips with family and friends for an incident free holiday season.
