The Central Gonja District Security Council has ordered the arrest and swift prosecution of all suspected National Democratic Congress youth in the area accused of attacking the district’s revenue offices.
Some officers in the assembly’s revenue secretariat became targets of the irate youth who besieged the office armed with clubs and machetes.
The youth group, said to be foot soldiers of the ruling NDC were angry that some of their colleagues had been dismissed by the revenue secretariat for alleged embezzlement.
The attack led to the closure of one of the district revenue offices.
Chairman of the District Security Council, Salisu Bi-awulbi has told Joy News more police officers will be deployed today as they attempt to reopen the revenue office.
He also assured that irrespective of party coloration, all the culprits will face the full rigours of the law.
