Residents of Goripie, a community in the Wa East district of the Upper West region, are reportedly fighting over a borehole.
The incident took place after a member of the community reported the Assemblyman to the police for breaking the chains of the borehole after it had been locked.
District Chief Executive of the area, Ameen Salifu who spoke on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Thursday said the borehole is locked every evening to ensure proper regulation.
He further explained that supporters of the Assemblyman got agitated when he was invited by the police and besieged the station.
He however, assured that calm has returned to the area as police personnel have been deployed to control the situation.
