There is a brewing tension at Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region following a protracted chieftaincy dispute and an impending coronation of a chief for the area. A native and spokesperson for the Ngleshie Amanfro Stool Charles Mensah told Joy News the dispute dates as far back as 1990s. According to him, “the indigenes in Ngleshie Amanfro are not too happy with the developments that are going on there. It dated back [to] 1990 where some fraudulent dealings by a group of people [who] went to court and changed the Ngleshie Amanfro stool land documents into their personal names and it has been hanging for quiet sometime.” Charles Mensah said due to the dispute, residents of the area fear for their lives and moving out of the area. “We are not too happy about that kind of situation where land guards indiscriminately get land from rival owners. Certainly there is factionalism [in the matter]. “What we are praying for is for the security authority to call both factions and probably call a spade a spade to probably nip in the bud what exactly is happening which has scared a lot of people to move out of Ngleshie Amanfro,” he noted.
