A development Economist, Dr. Theophilus Richardson has advocated the promulgation of a hiring policy to regulate employer-employee engagements.
He said such a policy will help curtail strike actions by the country’s labor force which has become so rampant.
Contributing to Multi TV’s current affairs programme, pm: EXPRESS, Dr. Richardson who is also a policy analyst expressed worry that training policies have often been confused with hiring policies, arguing labor policies are always at the heart of political economies.
He insisted the solution lies with political heads.
“As to how strikes can be resolved, it lies with the politicians”, he told stand-in host, Esi Arhin.
A former Employment Minister and now Labour Consultant, Austin Gamey was however of the view that the solution lies with the law.
“The labor act sets the rules. Put good policies in place, hire the right people, train them and pay them as required”, he said.
