A 50,600 Ghana cedis administrative block and a dinning hall for Kwahu Tafo Senior High School, constructed by Friends of Tafo, a United Kingdom based charitable organization has been inaugurated at Kwahu Tafo in the Kwahu South District.At the inauguration on Tuesday, the organisation in collaboration with management of Barclays Bank (Ghana), Ministerial Development and Relief Programme of Canada, Kwahu Tafo Union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Kwahu Tafo Development Council (KTDC) donated some educational materials to help to reduce literacy in the area.They included textbooks, exercise books, 200 school uniforms for needy pupils and students, a photocopier, computer and its accessories, a scanner, a television set and a DVD player.The items were presented to 14 pre-basic schools, senior high schools and the community library.Nana Kwadwo Ameyaw Gyeabour Yiadom, Tafo Nkosuohene said through the assistance of these institutions, more than 86,000 Ghana cedis had been invested in education and other development projects.Dr Benjamin Aggrey-Ntim, Minister for Communications commended the donors for the gesture and advised the pupils and students to use the facilities for research to improve their learning skills.Nana Onwona Asante, Kwahu South District Chief Executive, said the assembly would assist the school to construct a computer laboratory and urged the chief of Tafo to release land for the project.Nana Ameyaw Gyensiama III, Chief of Kwahu Tafo, appealed to Ghana Education Service to construct a hostel for the school.Source: GNA
