Rotary Club of Accra Spintex, with the Rotaract Club of Regional Maritime University and friends on September 21 walked in aid of Old Lashibi TMA Basic School.
The 8.5 km walk, which was in collaboration with Decathlon, started at the Junction Mall at Nungua at 6 am through the Spintex Road and back to the starting point.
The objective of this health walk was to raise funds towards the $257,000 kindergarten block for the Old Lashibi TMA Basic School.
The state-of-the-art building, when completed, will consist of a four-classroom block, 14 toilets, ICT Centre, Library, a health centre and three offices.

Rotary Club of Accra Spintex is a member of Rotary International which is a service organisation whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
President of Rotary Club of Accra Spintex, Prosper Edem Amevordzie, said the focus of the club is to undertake projects which tend to bring positive impact to the lives of people in communities in which the club is located.
In line with Rotary's six core areas of focus, Rotary Club of Accra Spintex have already undertaken many projects, some of which include:
1. Donation of medicine and other medical supplies to LEKMA Hospital to help manage cholera Epidemic and to help with the National Polio immunization week
2. Donation of books to E. P. Basic information School at Tulaku,Ashiaman.
3. Donation of books and solar lamps to school children in Osoko
4. Donation of various items to avenue orphanage at Pokuase.
5. Blood donation exercise to collect blood for Korlebu blood bank.
6. Periodic cleaning of Sakumono Beach
7. Donation of library books, mattresses and various items to the Accra Bostal Correction Centre.
8. Tree planting exercise.
The club is appealing to the public to donate towards the school project.
