The Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) is pleased to announce that Eleanor Sarpong has been appointed as Deputy Director- Policy Lead.
Eleanor has served as A4AI’s Policy Advocacy Manager since October 2016, responsible for managing the Alliance’s country engagements across Africa, Latin America and Asia.
As Deputy Director, Eleanor will continue to lead on international advocacy efforts alongside A4AI’s Executive Director Sonia Jorge, and will continue to oversee the operations of the Alliance’s national coalitions.
Eleanor has 15 years of experience across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors working across regulation, universal service, data protection, and privacy, including having previously worked as a consultant to the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), and as Senior Manager of Public Policy/ Government and Regulatory Affairs for MTN Ghana.
Upon appointing Eleanor as Deputy Director, Sonia Jorge said “Eleanor has quickly demonstrated absolute commitment to our mission and vision and I personally am excited to share the leadership of A4AI with such a talented colleague. It has been a pleasure to have her join us and I look forward to Eleanor taking on further responsibility with A4AI and beyond.”
Eleanor Sarpong said “I’m delighted to be working with the talented A4AI team and honoured by the confidence they have in me as I assume my new role. I look forward to expanding the A4AI brand and its relevance among policymakers, civil society and private sector players.”
