Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law Abdallah Ali-Nakyea has been elevated to the rank of Associate Professor.
The announcement, made on Monday, recognises his exceptional contributions to academia and legal practice.
Ali-Nakyea, PhD joins Ama Hammond, PhD who was also promoted to Associate Professor in a series of appointments that highlight the university’s commitment to academic excellence.

Distinguished Academic and Professional Career
Prof. Ali-Nakyea’s teaching career spans over two decades, during which he has cultivated expertise in diverse areas of law and economics.
At the University of Ghana School of Law, he teaches courses such as Law of Taxation, Commercial Law, and Administrative Law within the school’s LLB program.
For postgraduate students, his lectures extend to Fiscal Dimensions of Oil & Gas Law, Tax Policy, Accounting and Public Finance, and Comparative Institutions of Government.
Beyond the law school, he contributes significantly to the University of Ghana Business School, offering courses in Taxation and Business Strategy, Hospitality Law, and Ethics.
Internationally, Ali-Nakyea serves as an Extraordinary Lecturer at the African Tax Institute, University of Pretoria, South Africa. His influence extends to institutions like GIMPA and the Ghana School of Law, where he has provided specialized training in public sector management, economic policy, and taxation.
Broad Professional Experience in Taxation
Dr. Ali-Nakyea brings over 31 years of professional experience in taxation, financial management, and legal practice. Before joining academia full-time, he worked with global firms such as PwC and KPMG, where he managed complex financial reviews and tax affairs.
His expertise has also been sought by governmental bodies and international organizations, including ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Liberia Revenue Authority.
In addition to his professional roles, the new Associate Professor is the Director of Ali-Nakyea & Associates, a firm specialising in tax law, consultancy, and notary services.Â
Recognised Author and Expert
Dr. Ali-Nakyea holds a PhD in Tax Policy from the University of Pretoria, along with degrees in Economics and Law from the University of Ghana. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (Ghana) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). An accomplished author, he has written widely acclaimed books, including Taxation in Ghana: Principles, Practice & Planning and An Examination of Oil and Gas Taxation in Ghana.
