The Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency in the Volta region says he is confident of victory in today’s primaries in the constituency.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa told Joy News that he is confidence that the work that he has done will be enough to retain him in the North Tongu Constituency seat.
NDC members of North Tongu constituency were unable to vote in the party’s primaries held on 21st November due to an injunction.
A disqualified aspirant Christopher Ele-blu who had been disqualified by the party on grounds of defrauding the state, sought to put an injunction on the election.
But an Accra High Court dismissed his suit on Tuesday and said the party could go ahead with the primaries in the constituency.
The General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia said in a statement that the primaries had been scheduled for today, Sunday, December 20.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the incumbent MP, Aple Bennette and Charles Hodogbey are contesting in the primaries.
Mr Ablakwa has commended his constituents for the patience throughout the period the primaries were put on hold.
"I want to commend all NDC members of the constituency who have been mature and very patient. I am very proud of my constituents for showing maturity and patience," he said.
