Daniel Keshi Bessey, the Sege MP, has launched the Nkoko Nkitinkiti programme in the constituency, aimed at empowering residents through poultry farming to improve household incomes.
The initiative was officially rolled out on Monday, March 2, 2026, at a ceremony held at the District Assembly, where the MP, together with Mordjifa Tanihu Jerry John Foreigner Mills-Nkrumah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ada West, distributed 50 chicks each to the 200 selected beneficiaries.
Mr Bessey said the programme formed part of the efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods, enhance food security, and stimulate local economic activity within the constituency.
He noted that supporting households to venture into poultry production would help create alternative income streams and reduce economic vulnerability among residents.
Mr Mills-Nkrumah commended the initiative and urged beneficiaries to take proper care of the chicks to ensure the programme achieved its intended impact.
In an interview, the DCE said the country spent huge sums on importing poultry products, hence the government’s intervention to promote local poultry production to reduce import costs.
He added that the distribution benefited pastors, entrepreneurs, youth, and other community members who registered for the programme.
“Of course, there may be party members who benefited, but the programme is meant for the general public,” he emphasised.
The Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme is expected to strengthen small-scale poultry production in the Sege Constituency while contributing to improved nutrition and economic resilience in beneficiary communities.
