In response to an urgent request for technological support for its students, Absa Bank has donated 50 computers to the Tamale Technical University (TTU).

The Vice Chancellor of the University reached out to Absa Bank, following evidence that students in the school were still using typewriters for their schoolwork and assignments.

In a world where technology is leading the charge in almost every facet of life, educational institutions are constantly under pressure to maximise the experience for students to confidently navigate the complexities of the modern workplace.

The Tamale Technical University is one of the few leading Universities in the Northern Region, with a student capacity of over 7,000, who are offering a diversity of programmes.

Handing over the computers, Nana Essilfuah Boison, Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations at Absa Bank said “As a bank, we believe strongly in setting up a firm foundation for the youth to thrive and become successful as they climb the ladder of opportunity.

"We are confident that these computers will serve as a door of privilege that will transform these young and inquiring minds to make something of themselves in the future. We are very passionate about supporting education in Ghana and this aligns with our commitment to Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

On his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at the University, Prof. Adam Bawa Yussif said “We are indebted to Absa Bank for this grand gesture, which will go a long way to support our students as they embrace key digital skills that will make them competitive in the future.”

Absa Bank’s commitment to education forms a key component of its community-focused agenda to empower students with key digital and social skills to transit seamlessly from learning to earning.
