An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail of GH¢50,000 each, with two sureties, to a motorbike rider accused of robbery, and a trader charged with dishonestly receiving stolen property.
Joel Armah, also known as “Stop 10,” and Gideon Awuah, also known as “Bongo,” pleaded not guilty to their respective charges.
Armah is additionally facing a conspiracy charge for allegedly plotting with one Jibril, also known as “Wale,” who is currently at large, to rob a woman of her handbag.
The bag contained GH¢16,000, an iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at GH¢13,000, US$10, documents and other personal effects.
The court, presided over by Basilia Adjei-Tawiah, ordered that one of the sureties for each accused person must be a salaried worker earning not less than GH¢2,500, while the other must be justified.
The case has been adjourned to February 26, 2026.
Chief Inspector Daniel Ofori-Appiah, prosecuting, said the complainant, Madam Eva Vera Tetteh-Fio, is a medical doctor residing at Dansoman-Sahara.
Armah lives at Zamrama Line near Shukura, while Awuah resides at Osu. Jibril is currently being sought by police.
According to the prosecution, on January 2, 2026, at about 0010 hours, Armah and Jibril, riding an Apsonic motorbike with Jibril as the pillion rider, spotted the complainant at Adotey Mingle Street, Dansoman-Sahara, while she was walking with a backpack and a paper bag.
Armah allegedly slowed down and parked near her, after which Jibril alighted, pulled a machete from his trousers, attacked the complainant and snatched her bags.
The bags contained an iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at GH¢13,000, a wristwatch, a passport, a Ghana Card, clothing, a Yellow Fever card, and cash amounting to GH¢16,000 and US$10.
The prosecution said the suspects fled the scene on a motorbike. At about 0200 hours the same day, they allegedly sold the phone to Awuah for GH¢2,000.
A report was made to the police, and on January 10, 2026, Armah was arrested at his hideout at Bukom.
During interrogation, he admitted the offence and mentioned Jibril as his accomplice and Awuah as the receiver in his caution statement.
Awuah was subsequently arrested and also admitted to the offence. After investigations, both men were charged accordingly.
