The Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADB) has been adjudged the best Bank for the year 2020 at the maiden edition of the National Business Honours Awards.
In addition, the b.ank’s Managing Director, Dr. John Kofi Mensah was named the National Business Hero in Banking (Public Sector) for the year 2020.
According to the organisers of the event, Global Ovations, the bank’s consistent financial growth, support for key government initiatives and the various Corporate Social Responsibility activities embarked on during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic was remarkable.
The Organisers further said the award to Dr. Kofi Mensah was in recognition of his outstanding performance since assuming the role as Managing Director, having moved the bank from a loss making to a consistent profit making institution.
In addition, he has refocused the bank to its core business mandate of agribusiness financing and has led ADB to be a major partner of government initiatives such as One District One Factory, Planting For Food and Jobs etc.
The awards scheme is a high-impact, economic empowerment and leadership awards to champion business growth, economic empowerment and job creation in Ghana.
With the business community at heart and Ghana’s future in mind, the awards scheme is committed to the promotion of professionalism and high standards of cooperation among sector players across the country.
Addressing the awardees, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Ovations Limited, organisers of the scheme, Gideon Raji, commended Ghanaian firms for persevering despite unexpected challenges they were confronted with because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the theme; “AfCFTA, Potential Benefits and Impact in Rebuilding Africa’s Economic Resilience in the Wake of COVID-19” Mr. Raji noted that all recipients of the honours made remarkable sacrifices to achieve their business objectives during one of the most challenging periods in modern commerce.
Other recipients of the awards were the Guinness Ghana Limited, ECOM Ghana, Ghana Shippers Authority, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, B5 Plus Group , Ghana Shippers Authority, RwandAir, JRA Cosmetics, Nationwide Medical Insurance and other distinguished personalities.
