Samartex defender, Isaac Afful, has received his first call-up to the Black Stars following impressive and consistent performances in the Ghana Premier League.
The talented left-back has been a vital part of Nurudeen Amadu’s squad, significantly contributing to their victory in the league last season.
Afful was also instrumental in Samartex’s maiden CAF Champions League campaign, featuring in all matches and scoring a spectacular goal against Victoria United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This call-up marks a significant milestone in Afful's career, as he joins Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare as the only local-based player in the squad.
He will look to make his first appearance for the team as Ghana prepares for a crucial double-header against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team will first host Sudan on October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by the second leg in Libya on October 15.
Currently sitting third in their group with just one point, the Black Stars will be aiming to secure all six points from these matches to enhance their chances of returning to AFCON in Morocco 2025.
