Minister of State in charge of Financial and Allied Institutions has strongly backed calls for the country to do away with the winner takes all syndrome in the political system. Fifi Kwetey says the continent of Africa is too poor to continue practising "fragmentation" in government. He believes the governments across continent must begin to pool its best human resources for the development of their respective countries instead of appointing only party supporters when in power. He was contributing to the call by the chairman of his party Dr Kwabena Adjei and other statesmen for political parties to shelve the winner-takes-all syndrome when it wins political power. "I don't think he is alone in holding that particular view. I would say i belong to that school of thought as well. "The time has come for us truly to be looking at a far more inclusive way of governing this country than the situation we have now," he told Citi News on Friday. He said all inclusive government "is the sustainable way to go," adding, "Africa is far too poor and undeveloped to continue dividing itself the way we are doing" He said the country must think about how to get a far more inclusive system of government. Other political party representatives also partly share in the view and call for the country to do away with the winner-takes-all system of government. His comments come barely a week before the Supreme Court gives its judgement on the Presidential Election Petition.
