Ghana's silver medalist at the 2023 African Games, Abeku Jackson, says it's only right that he celebrates his win at the competition.
Jackson clinched Ghana's fourth medal at the Games after finishing second in the men's 50m butterfly event on Sunday, March 10.
Jackson finished in 24.42 seconds, while fellow Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey took fifth place.
Jackson expressed his delight at winning the medal and emphasised the importance of recognising incremental progress in competitive performance.

"You have to celebrate every single achievement; if you don’t celebrate every little achievement, how would you move forward? It’s obviously a stepping stone but we have to celebrate it," he said.
"It’s a stepping stone, [Saturday] Harry got fourth position [in the men’s 100 Metre Freestyle]…today we have a silver medal who knows what tomorrow holds we just look forward to keep pushing and pushing until we reach the final goal."
The swimmer also revealed his inspiration was from Winnifred Ntumi winning Ghana's first medals at the Games.
"Hearing weightlifting won Ghana’s first medal of the 2023 African Games motivated me," he added.
Elsewhere, the Ghanaian team placed fifth in the 4x100m Medley Relay Mixed, recording a time of 4:03.39.
