World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Bantamweight champion Joseph King Kong Agbeko Wednesday 17th April went to the Head Office of Rlg Communications to present his title to the company. Agbeko defeated Colombian Luis Melendez in Accra in March on a unanimous point decision to win the WBO Batamweight title.
The Bantamweight King was presenting the title in appreciation of the financial and other resource support given to him in the buildup to the bout.
The award was also meant to coincide with the birthday of Roland Agambire, CEO the AGAMS Groups, which owns the Rlg brand, this Friday.
Receiving the award on behalf of Rlg, Group Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs, Prosper Harrison Addo Esq, of the AGAMS Group said the presentation of the title was in fulfillment of the boxer’s promise before the World Title bout.
Prosper Harrison Addo Esq indicated the support his outfit gave to Joseph Agbeko was in fulfillment of Rlg's Corporate Social Responsibility to assist Ghanaian boxers and sportsmen.
The Bantamweight King expressed delight for the support from Rlg. He said the support did contribute immensely to his comeback after a two-year absence from the ring.
“Rlg have been very supportive, and I really appreciative that. If they continue in this same vein, boxing will grow in Ghana and I believe more world champions will emerge.”
Agbeko has indicated that he will soon return to the ring but would be aiming for a higher title in the Bantamweight category.
