Egypt will have to make do without several of their stars who ply their trade with Ahly when the Pharaohs take on Uganda in a friendly on Wednesday.Bob Bradley, the American Pharaohs coach, has agreed with his technical staff to release several Ahly players as the Egyptian champions will be flying to Congo on the same day to prepare for a highly-anticipated match against AC Leopards in the African Champions League three days later.Egypt’s online English publication, Ahram, reports that goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami, defenders Wael Gomaa, Rami Rabia and Ahmed Shedid, and midfielder Mohamed Abutreika have all been excused from the Uganda game.Midfielders Ahmed Fathi and Hossam Asour and goalie Mosad Awad will, however, play with the Pharaohs as Ahly do not need them due to suspension. Both Uganda and Eygpt are using this friendly as preparation for their World Cup qualifiers. While Egypt lead Group G of the World Cup qualifiers with 15 points and will partake of their final game for formality, Micho’s Uganda must beat Group J leaders and nine-point Senegal to progress to the final round.
