Airlines, regulators, airport operators, and travel consultants have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Ghana’s aviation and tourism sectors at the 5th AviationGhana Breakfast Meeting held in Accra.

The high-level forum, themed “Advancing Ghana’s Aviation Sector: Policy, Connectivity, and Sustainable Growth,” took place on February 10, 2026, at the Accra Marriott Hotel and brought together key industry stakeholders to discuss policy direction, infrastructure development, and improved air connectivity.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr Dominick Andoh, Managing Partner and Founder of the AviationGhana Breakfast Meeting, underscored the importance of sustained dialogue among aviation players to drive sector growth.

The event featured a keynote address delivered by Kamil Al-Awadhi, IATA Vice President for Africa and the Middle East.

Mr Al-Awadhi praised Ghana’s aviation sector regulatory regime and affirmed his strong belief in the leadership of the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur.

He further called on Ghana to align its aviation policies with ECOWAS directives to ensure a competitive aviation sector in West Africa. He said, this will ensure that Ghana strengthens its aviation as a catalyst for economic expansion.

A central highlight was a policy and connectivity panel session, with participation from Yvonne Nana Afriyiye Opare, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL); Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA); Frank Annin-Bonsu, President of the Ghana Association of Travel and Tour Agents; and Prof. Kobby Mensah, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company.

Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyiye Opare outlined planned aviation infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing Ghana’s capacity and competitiveness in the West African sub-region.

She indicated that Terminal 2 will be connected to Terminal 3 via a concourse to ensure faster connections and seamless travel and transit through Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.

She outlined investment opportunities under this project for investors and airlines.

“There will be about 4 or 5 lounges within this concourse, shop, and others. I encourage airlines present who would like to own their own lounges to get in touch and submit their proposals,” Mrs Opare said.

The 5th AviationGhana Breakfast Meeting, organised by AviationGhana.com, is an annual event that brings together policymakers and operators from the aviation and travel sectors to discuss key industry issues and develop solutions to challenges.
