Renowned Ghanaian actor and television personality Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, was involved in a car accident on Friday, May 23, while travelling to Kumasi.
The incident occurred near Konongo, a busy township situated along the Accra-Kumasi highway, a major route known for both heavy vehicular activity and frequent traffic incidents.
According to eyewitness accounts and initial reports, the comedian’s vehicle was involved in a collision with a heavy-duty truck under circumstances that are still being investigated.
Akrobeto, best known as the host of the satirical news show Real News on UTV, was reportedly alone in the car at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, and although the collision caused considerable damage to the vehicles involved, it has been confirmed that Akrobeto escaped without life-threatening injuries.
Images and video from the scene, which have since circulated on social media, show a visibly damaged front section of Akrobeto’s vehicle, suggesting a significant impact.
However, no other casualties have been reported.
The police are yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the crash or whether any other drivers are being held for questioning.
It remains unclear whether poor road conditions, mechanical failure, or human error contributed to the accident.
Akrobeto, a veteran of Ghana’s entertainment industry with decades of experience in film, theatre, and television, has become a household name across the country and among the Ghanaian diaspora for his humour, humility, and unmistakable delivery style.
