Chiefs in the Akuapem area in the Eastern Region are leading a crusade against a seemingly increasing incidence of moral decadence in the area.
The decision has been triggered by recent newspaper publications of girls in the area engaged in pornographic acts.
The chiefs, in collaboration with the Akuapem District Assembly, are expected to strictly enforce the assembly’s by-laws on pornography and other unlawful acts.
This resolution was reached at a meeting between the chiefs, officials of the assembly and Members of Parliament of Akropong and Okere, Messrs William Ofori Boafo and Dan Botwe respectively.
The Presiding Member of the Akuapem District Assembly, Samuel Apenteng told Joy FM Correspondent, Benjamin Henaku, that the assembly was committed to providing the necessary resources to make the crusade a success.
He said the area was not noted for immoral activities and that every effort will be made to nip the situation in the bud.
