The leader of the opposition in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, says President Nana Akufo-Addo can only get credit for three achievements of his government, as he delivers his State of the Nation Address 2018.
Haruna Iddrisu pointed to the fulfilled promise to create the Office of the Special Prosecutor, implementation of free SHS and creating new district assemblies.
But even with these three achievements, the Tamale South National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP found fault with the need to create the Office of the Special Prosecutor to fight corruption.
He said the creation of the office is "certainly not right" because there are existing institutions to fight corruption.
These institutions need to be well-resourced to fight corruption. He said President Nana Akufo-Addo only needs to follow former President Mahama's blueprint for tackling corruption which is the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACAB).
Haruna Iddrisu, despite lauding the free SHS as a "noble" idea, expressed concern that it could undermine quality education in second cycle institutions because of an increase in enrolment rate.
He also wants the government to spell out its financing plan for the social intervention program.
The Tamale South MP also credited government with the creation of new districts which he said will deepen decentralisation in Ghana.
Haruna Iddrisu whose Minority wore a black fashion item for the SONA 2018 explained, the opposition NDC in parliament are mourning "democratic tyranny" in Ghana.
He repeated his frequent charge that the official opposition is treated with disrespect by the Speaker of the House Prof. Mike Oquaye.
