President Akufo-Addo will undertake a state visit to the Peoples Republic of China from Friday, August 31, 2018.
Information Minister-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, announced at a press briefing Wednesday that President Akufo-Addo will hold bilateral engagements with Chinese President, Xi-Jiping, on economic relations between the two countries.
“Ghana seeks to deepen her already strong relations with China, hence this visit,” the Minister-designate stated.
President Akufo-Addo will also lead a delegation to participate in a Business Forum in the Chandong province that will ensure that more business opportunities are open to Ghana.
At least 8 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) are expected to be signed between China and Ghana.
These MOUs will focus on areas such as infrastructure, education, health and “smart cities”.
“When you have your President leading a business delegation, it opens more doors for business opportunities," the Minister added.
President Akufo-Addo will also attend the Forum on China-Africa Corporation (FOCAC) which will be attended by 40 heads of state from Africa who have signed up to Continental Free Trade Area to discuss infrastructure, power, education and industry on the continent.
