Police in Akuse have arrested five persons who were alleged to be part of a group who embarked on a violent demonstration in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
The demonstrators were arrested for breaking the public order law which required that they inform the police before going on the demonstration.
The group was demanding the whereabouts of the mortal remains of their late paramount chief which went missing for several days.
According to Joy FM's Eastern Region correspondent Kofi Siaw the demonstrators torched lorry tires and mounted road blocks.
The Akuse District Police Commander, ASP Francis Ackah told Siaw the police will pick up more of the demonstrators who have gone into hiding.
Tension has been mounting in the area following the disappearance of the mortal remains of the late paramount chief of the area, Nene Ologo Dawutey .
The family of the chief is accusing the Myer family of Osudoku of masterminding the looting of the grave.
The Myer family who claim to inherit the paramountcy has however declined comments.
